As a first grader, Kalaya is always excited to come to Motivate Our Minds. She has a smile for everyone and hugs for her teachers and friends. Because of her attendance at MOM, she has been able to participate in reading tutoring through a partnership with education majors from Ball State. She is also able to take part in the reading and math opportunities available while at Motivate Our Minds.
Kalaya has worked very diligently to improve her reading skills. Through daily attendance and practice at MOM, she can read most of her reading passages completely independently now. She completes her addition and subtraction worksheets independently. If she gets stuck, she resorts to using an extra sheet of paper before asking for help. Mastering reading skills and internalizing math strategies has given Kalaya so much confidence. Her grades in school have improved due to her diligence and the commitment of volunteers and staff. Congratulations Kalaya!
